Singing in the rain

dear Briony,

It wasn't really raining. Later I made the umbrella into a boat by turning it upside down and sitting in it. But all the spokes broke :(

Thankyou for letting Lew come and be with me for these two weeks. I know you must have missed her heaps. She has been letting me go out really deep at the beach, with my wahu vest on, and I have been practising lots of kicking and now I am as powerful as a washing machine.

It is very exciting you are coming over today with your dad and grandma.

See you soon,

love

Empty Nest

dear Fatima,

This is my cousin, Sabian. He is nearly 14 years old. He likes running, icecreams and his DS. He has just been visiting me for a week, for a Summer Holiday. He plays with me, swims, runs, does chores, watches movies and then he plays on his DS.
He has two younger brothers, Julian who is 11 and Ben who is 5. Julian would get paid $6 an hour to rest with me. Sabian didn't want to do that because he said it was too boring.

Happy Birthday Georgie

dear Georgie

I hope you had a fun day. Julian and Sabian have been here all week and now U. Andrew has turned up with Ben. Each day we have to make icecreams and so Julian has been helping me with my chore; which is to get the icecream out of the freezer. Today we bought some jelly tip and some more goody-gum drops.

It is cool having Lewanna here this week and next week. You have a nice friend and I like her sister as well. You know that Briony comes to see me in Wellington.
Are you getting any Summer yet in Napier? We have heaps here, but not today.

Sunny days

dear Daddy,

Soon you will be back here on the island and can go swimming with me. Joni has gone home to Indiana. I was very sad to see her go. She and I had lots of fun but she only went in the sea once because she said it was very cold and not like Folly Beach.
I was teaching her how to jump on the bed, like it is a trampoline.
see you soon,
lots of love

Big Billy

dear Glenda,

Thankyou for having me to stay. Billy is so cool to play with now. I hope he can come over to Waiheke next time I am here.

I have two friends to play with now at my house, Sabian and Julian. They are big boys and very cool and have with DSs. Last night Sabian slept in the hammock until 2.30am when it started pouring with rain. There were only two mosquitos out there and they didn't land on him

Happy New Year, 2010

dear Bevan,

I love your saxophone. Thankyou so much for playing it and having a jam session with me and making all those funny arty noises with it. I am glad that Carolyn brought you to the island.

Yesterday we went to the zoo. There was a slide there that was very long but not very steep and at halfway I sort of stopped. Lots of kids came in behind me (even though Joni told them not to and to wait till I got down) and it was so funny. One of them started crying. Mummy stood at the other end calling me but I didn't want to move as there was so much action in the tube. When I came out, there were 8 kids piled out after me and there were mothers standing there making rude remarks with their faces about how come I had been allowed in there.
