Congratulations Kelly

dear Mel,

I walked 4.5 km today!!! but at least I didn't have to mow the lawn or shift all the old mattresses that tenants left here and take them to the dump with U. Jon and Julian. Also mum and Jon painted the study room while I got to just lie round watching Kane on Kidzone.

There is lots of sunshine here which is really nice. But on Friday we are coming back home. The great news is that Julian is going to come down with me and stay till middle of next week. He is real cool. You will like him.

See you on Sunday

lots of love

Fragile Fingers

dear Briony,

On Saturday morning, I woke at 3.30 to the sound of a text message coming from Pakistan. But I was forced to stay in bed until 6.00am when Billy and I were finally allowed to climb on Glenda's bed and settle in to read magazines.

I got to have stew for a pre-breakfast appetizer which was my dinner I had fallen asleep in from the night before. Then we went into La Cigalle, the french market in Parnell to have breakfast proper. The market has the most amazingly yummy food and I had an apple brioche.

Then it was back into the car, belted into the back seat. Mummy was putting vegetables in the boot and I turned around to look and put my hand out, but she didn't see me and closed the boot door and came to sit in the car. I was crying and she turned to see what happened. She looked so scared and screamed out at Glenda, 'Rosie's hand is in the boot door' while she opened it quickly with the remote unlocker. My middle finger on my left hand was very squashed with a big indent and there was just a lot of blood. We drove quickly to the Accident and Emergency for Children at Auckland Hospital.

We spent three hours there, while the nurse looked at my fingers, the trainee intern looked at my fingers, the doctor looked at my fingers, the radiographer x-rayed my fingers. The doctor then said they were not broken and she discharged me after the nurse put some plasters on.

So it was all okay in the end, but we missed our boat to Waiheke. Judy had to drive in and take Glenda home as she had an appointment and then we had to pick up Judy as she has come to stay the night.

Once were on the boat, I fell fast asleep.

love to you

Travelling Northwards

dear Grandma and Grandad,

On Friday I was up at 4.30am and was on the road at 5.00am. Mummy drove me all the way up to Auckland where we stayed at Glenda's and Billy's for the night. Billy and I invented a game. Usually Glenda throws this big rubber bone in the air and he leaps up and catches it. We changed it to, he drops it on the floor, I pick it up and put it in his mouth and he drops on the floor again. It was such a fun game, we played it for over an hour.

Then we went for a walk in the park, and I took my scooter so I could scoot and Billy could chase after sticks. We stopped at a pre-school and all the kids came to the wire fence to say hello to Billy and me. They were a bit scared of him as he is a retro-poodle and very very big.

I was so tired I went to sleep at 6.00pm and by 3.30am I had had enough sleep and woke ready to face the day.

Shared Book

dear Eleanor,

All of the blogs from June 2007-2010, my secretary has had printed into a 'shared book'. It is very cool and shiny and red.

Tomorrow we are driving to Auckland. I hope there is some snow on the side of the road that I can play in. We will have to drive very carefully.

I am coming back for the second week of the school holidays. It would be nice to see you.

lots of love

Chess

dear Glenda

Last night I got to stay up late as Briony came round and brought her Chess DVD. We played it really loudly and I just loved the songs and all the music. I do have one complaint though; I got my dinner which was a frozen meal at 5.00pm and Briony and my mother had freshly baked pizza and then Sarah Lee Apple Danish and didn't even share with me.

See you very soon,

lots of love to you and Billy

Who wants to be?

dear Julie,

I do. I want to be a classic millionaire. But our TV screen is not a touch-screen and when I respond with all the correct choices, it doesn't get through.
Did you know I have a scooter now? I practice in the hallway and yesterday Mel and Matt took me down to the waterfront and I got to scoot all along there, though I had to share with them as they don't have scooters any more.
Mel and I went to the Meditteranean Warehouse to buy pizza dough. She ordered it in italian and they gave her special treats.
After we dropped her home and went to visit Reuben. He was in my school last year and now he lives in a home that just has disabled adults in it. Mummy met the team leader of the home when she went on the Singing for Non-Singers course two weeks ago (that course was a very good idea, I have to say). At Reuben's home we had a cup of tea and then left to go to Bill and Janets to make pizza for dinner.

Eid Mubarak 2010

dear Fatima,
I hope you had awesome eid celebrations. Is it spring in Canberra? Are you very very homesick?

I have my school holidays at the end of next week and then I am going up to Waiheke for a week but my dad is in Pakistan and so my uncle Jon is coming to look after me all the way from Taupo.

Bruno

Dear Kara and Georgia,

Don't get jealous. This is Bruno. I met him on Conical Hill in Hanmer. I had walked all the way up to the top. It is a long long long way. Then Bruno turned up just as I was sitting on the sundial.
He had a leash with a handle and I got to walk and run with him, holding it, all the way back down the hill. It was so much fun.

But it was so sad, because then he got into a yellow car and drove away.

hope you guys are coming round soon,

love and kisses

Hamner

dear A. Mary,

It would be good if you could get the quakes to stop before we come down this weekend. Are they in Hamner as well. I am looking forward to swimming in the hotpools and Matt says there is a hydroslide as well.

This is a crocus from our garden.

see you soon,

My niece and nephew

dear Glenda,

This is my niece, Greta and nephew, George. Greta can do all sorts of amazing things. She can roller skate, ride a bike and scooter. And she is only 6 years old. George can't do any of these things yet.
I wanted to thankyou for getting knitting going around here. I am going to get another new cardy, one day soon, depending on how much TV is watched.
How's Billy? I hope I see him these holidays.
lots of love

Sushi heaven

dear Grandma and Grandad,

I love sushi. Sometimes as a special treat when I arrive home from school there is salmon and avocado sushi with a pork bun. It is so tempting to just put all of it in my mouth at once.

I went to see Dr Stanley at the hospital last Friday to talk about my epilepsy medication. I am going to start reducing the dosage on one of the pills- clobazam. If I can stop taking that one, I will only be on two daily medications.

Scootering

dear Glenda,

I exchanged my qantas airpoints for Farmers vouchers because they were threatening to expire them. I don't travel as much as I used to. With the voucher I have bought a scooter, just like Greta's and other kids.

I can stand with one foot on the scooter and one on the floor and move along slowly. I am going to practice heaps and get faster and faster. It is so exciting.

lots of love
